Why Use LED?

With the future of the 12volt MR16 high wattage bulb in doubt, now is the time to switch to LED bulbs, and enjoy lower running costs, lower maintenance and better light outputs. Here are a few more reasons why.

The EU Directive

The European Union passed legislation a few years ago to ban all incandescent and halogen light bulbs, which are highly inefficient and energy-wasteful. The planned phase out will be completed by the end of 2016, but many bulbs types have already disappeared, with more types to follow.  It is now illegal to manufacture and/or import most of these bulbs types, which is why the world’s leading bulb manufacturers have been investing heavily over the last 4-5 years in LED technology. The result is that LED bulbs are now a very good and in some cases better alternative to the old traditional style bulbs that we all know and love. By taking this action, the EU expects to reduce the huge annual carbon dioxide emissions of power stations by around 15 million tonnes, and therefore saving in power generations costs. This phase out should enable 5-10 Billion Euros to be re-invested in the European economy.

Products

We are all concerned with saving energy. Let’s be honest, we are all subjected daily to lots of adverts telling us to save energy and offering us various ways to do it. One easy way to start to save money is to replace the old energy burning light bulbs in your house and garden with the new LED alternatives. This can save you up to 90% in energy costs, for surprisingly only a little extra outlay. In recent years the advancement in LED technology has been great and now we have very reliable, incredibly long lasting and low wattage LED replacements for just about all high wattage old style bulbs. In a lot of cases if you buy “Branded” good quality led products you will see an improved light output, genuine long life, backed by a decent warranty of 3-5 years. There are however a lot of cheaper “Unbranded” LED products flooding into the UK that are falsely claiming long life, light output figures, and do not live up to the claims that they make on the packaging. This in my many years of experience selling LED products does tend to put the consumer off LED technology as they unfortunately have purchased “cheaper unbranded” products that do not do the job. They may be old technology and therefore very low output, or poor life expectancy. In my opinion it is always best to buy good quality products, from a good reputable distributor that has tried and tested the products and will honour the warranty period on the product. LED bulbs claim long life and low running costs so why purchase cheap products from companies that may not be trading long enough to honour a warranty!

Years of experience in selling LED products have meant that we only supply very good quality products to our valuable customers. Sure we are not the cheapest in the market, yes you can get similar type products elsewhere at cheaper prices, and yes they may do the job. But the LEDs we sell are all tested to work well, have a very high output and most importantly, we stand by the product and will be around should you have any problems.

The benefits of buying you LEDs from us:-

1) Very high light output
2) Low running costs
3) Long life expectancy – 25-30,000 hours
4) Minimum 3 year warranty
5) Size is important – they actually fit our garden lights!
6) All LEDs are colour matched so you will not end up with different colours
7) All our garden light fittings either come with LED bulbs or offer a LED alternative.

Conclusion

LED technology is here to stay. It is now better, cheaper and longer lasting than it has ever been. We have seen over the past few years that it is very quickly being purchased to replace many old types of light bulbs because the consumer is getting feed up with constantly changing bulbs and has now accepted the LED type of replacement. Yes it may take a bit of getting used to as the colour and type of light is slightly different, but it really will not be long before you will not have any other option. Due to greater manufacturing runs the prices of LED bulbs has come right down. Buying good quality products, with a good warranty and from a reputable source is still, in my option the only way to go.

We have many customers over the years that have purchased LED bulbs from other sources only to return and order ours because they are either very low output, too long and do not fit the fittings, failed prematurely or a combination of all three. The products we offer are good quality and fit for purpose.
